The Fish That Ate The Whale
The Fish that Ate the Whale is a biography/story about a banana mogel at the time of massive industry titans around America. Sam “the banana man” Zemurray was a Eastern European Jewish Immagrant with no money living in America. He was looking for something to peddle and he saw someone unloading a boat full of bananas.
The Death of Ivan Ilyich
I’ve never read anything by Leo Tolstoy, but I have been burdened to read more classics so I thought a Novella would be a great place to start.
Write down your virtues
I guess this should say values, instead of virtues. Virtues in the James international version are “things that are highly regarded by your society/community/country”
Life Isn't Easy
Life isn’t supposed to be easy. Life didn’t design us to be lazy. Our bodies aren’t made to move room to room or even building to building. We have perfect temperature controlled cars, houses, offices, gyms and everything inbetween is exactly the temperature that we need to be comfortable.
Team no phone
I just finished reading a book called Digital Minimalism. I was pretty happy with it. I wanted to come to peace with not wanting to spend as much time on my phone, and this book seemed to get me in a direction that I’d be happy with. When I started the book I was averaging more than 5 hours on my phone a day. I also worked full time.
At any moment
At any moment, you can die. A friend of mine was driving to the beach on vacation and the car in front of it had their bike fall off their bike rack and almost caused them to crash.

Book Review Take Control of your life
This is a book review of Mel Robin’s book, Take Control of your life. I don’t think it’s an actual book. I think it’s just an audio book.
Respect the Craft
I have been getting into wood working recently. The type of wood working that you don’t use power tools on. I wanted to build a fence without power tools. It started off easy. The post holes were dug. The post holes were dug with a post hole digger. Not awful, just time consuming. Then came laying the posts and making sure they were level. Easy peasy. Then came the beginning of the wood working- setting up the fence planks.
Journaling vs blogging
I enjoy blogging. Not because I like to tell people about myself or that I want to build an online business or a following. I really don’t care about that. I like it because I treat it like a journal. For me, it’s no different than if I opened a word document, typed everything I was thinking and then saved it and forgot about it.
Command Line Mastery
The command line is supposed to be much faster than using a GUI interface. From what I’ve read, the command line’s speed to do things is it’s biggest advantage over the GUI interface we all know and love. My biggest problem is I don’t know the commands to make it quicker. I can navigate to a spot on my computer pretty quickly using command line, but I don’t really know any shortcuts other than that.

Just keep working
I am trying to learn Python and SQL. I’m working specifically with SQLite3 since it seems to be tied directly with Python. It seemed like a good fit. I have no idea what I’m doing half the time, but I have a project I’m trying to get done while we are in lockdown, and now seemed like a good time to learn a new skill and put that together.
Command Line Tricks
I’ve wanted to mess around with this for a while.
Latex Hello World
I’ve been working on something I think will be interesting. It’s a layout of California Chrome’s family tree with notable ancestors highlighted. I’m using a program called
LaTex
to do it. It’s a type setting program used mostly in the academic world, but it has uses everywhere. I’m writing this to give a basicHello, world
sort of document.The Right Tool
Using the right tool for the job is very important. There are a ton of different
